What we aim to solve
Many children who are talented and motived to stay in school are unable to do so because of the cost of school supplies or opportunity cost of their not working. To survive, some families encourage their children to drop out of school or marry early, thus reducing or entirely halting their access to education. We aim to address the holistic needs of the family and a child's school expenses so that the financial burden on the child's shoulders is lessened.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Sponsorship Programs
Children sponsored through our programs receive recurring donations in the form of food, medicine, clothing, and educational materials, and in some countries housing and emergency assistance. Currently, Child Foundation offers sponsorship programs in Iran, Indonesia and Afghanistan.
Unlike making a one-time-donation, sponsoring a child can provide you with the opportunity to develop a deeper and more meaningful relationship with a child in need. As a sponsor you will receive letters, reports and up-dated photographs of your child; and whenever possible, we encourage you to visit your sponsored child or children.
Our flexible sponsorship program enables you to tailor your monthly contribution to meet your own financial capabilities and lifestyle. (https://www.childfoundation.org/Default.aspx?TabId=105)

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Child Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. Its board members have extensive experience in managing nonprofit and for profit businesses. Since 1994 Child Foundation is identifying and helping talented but deprived children and provides means for them to continue their education.
Our main office is located in Portland, OR and we work with sister foundations in Canada, UK, UAE, Germany, Iran and Afghanistan.
We are funded by the monthly contributions of our sponsors and individual members and additional grant funds. We have a core paid staff of 14 and many devoted volunteers around the country who assist us in our fundraising events.
Child Foundation is also a member of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), United Nation Associations of United States (UNA-USA).
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our accomplishments:
Since 1994 Child Foundation has provided assistance to more than 15,000 children living in poverty. The assistance eliminates the premature conclusion of childhood education in some instances by avoiding childhood matrimony. By providing access to education, the lives of these children, their families, are enhanced with likelihood of a better future.
Also, Child Foundation raised $40,000 for Haiti's earthquake victims and helped build a school, raised $280,000 for victims of Azarbayejan's earthquake and built a school in Varzaghan to replace a school that was destroyed and in May of 2014 provided Badakhashan, Afghanistan landslide victim assistance.
Future accomplishments:
There are still hundreds of thousands of children in need who would benefit from Child Foundation's sponsorship program but for budgetary and logistical restraints. Child Foundation's expansion program to Africa is standing still until security environment improves but work with locals NGOs is being considered.
Although the need for Child Foundation's work may never end likewise Child Foundation's commitment to continue the effort shall endure.
