Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
SIA Small Business Fund
The SIA Small Business Fund provides $150 microgrants to
groups of three or more people who are planning businesses in developing
countries. Coordinators who live in the communities where they work administer
the microgrants. Coordinators also provide business and communication skills
training, assistance in reporting and evaluation, and emotional support to the
participants. Sample businesses include small convenience stores, handicrafts,
farming, chicken or goat rearing, and other small retail ventures.
A key aspect of the SIA Small Business Fund is our "Sharing
the Gift” program, which encourages all grant recipients to "pay it forward”
and help another person in their community. This spreads the impact beyond the
individuals who receive the initial grant. "Sharing the Gift” help takes many
forms, both material and non-material.
Spirit in Action Community Grants
Community Grants are awarded to grassroots organizations working in their communities to reduce poverty, promote livelihood development, and empower minority and vulnerable communities.

- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
