What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

House of Dreams No-kill Cat Shelter (HoD) provides care and a sanctuary for homeless and abandoned felines. Our focus is health-challenged, senior, feral and Feline Leukemia-positive (FeLV+) cats. As one of the only regional shelters accepting and caring for these populations, we help relieve over-crowding at other local shelters. HoD is free-roam, no-kill and all-volunteer.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To find forever homes for senior, feral, health-challenged and FeLV+ cats.

To raise awareness about FeLV+ cats as wonderful long-term companions.

To reduce the region's feral cat population, including those surrendered to shelters where they are euthanized.

To encourage adoption of senior cats.

To further encourage the free-roam shelter model.

Using social media and local events to raise awareness about our non-profit organization.

Sharing stories of HoD alumni and their adopters.

Ensuring all resident cats have the best medical care and socializing for their good health.

Updating our website resource page and social media for current and future cat owners looking for assistance.

Two of the original five founders still serve on the board and volunteer at the shelter on a daily basis.

Devoted, knowledgeable volunteers, many from the animal welfare industry, lending their time and expertise.

HoD has been a model non-profit cat shelter since 1999 and one of the first to adopt the free-roam model.

A solid network of dedicated volunteers, supporters, donors and local business partners.

Being a Network Partner with Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS) and accessing their promotional resources and participating in their events.

Since 1999, Hod has adopted out hundreds of cats that would otherwise be homeless or euthanized.

Our largest signature fundraiser, the Pretty Kitty Holiday Craft Bazaar netted $19,000 in 2017 - with the most attendees ever. It keeps growing every year, raises awareness and attracts new volunteers for the shelter.

Increased adoption of the free-roam shelter model due to press articles and shelter tours.

Conversion of an existing bathroom in 2017 into a sickbay for close monitoring and quarantine of sick felines.
