Albany Civic Theater, Inc.

aka ACT   |   Albany, OR   |  http://albanycivic.org

Mission

Established in 1951, ACT is among the oldest continually operating theaters in Oregon. ACT produces a year-round season of 9-10 comedies, dramas and musicals each year at its 159-seat theater in historic downtown Albany. Each season, more than 300 volunteers take part in ACT productions, on stage and off, providing live entertainment for some 10,000 theater-goers. ACT also produces summer theater camps providing theater education and performance opportunities for children and teens. The theater also serves as a resource for other community groups, providing them with free tickets for fund-raising purposes, tours and special programs on request, and opportunities to "buy a house" to raise money for their causes.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Albany Civic Theater's primary focus is producing professional-quality plays; additional programs include educational workshops for adults and teens, benefits and fund-raisers, and providing tours and speakers for organizations interested in learning more about the performing arts. We work with other arts organizations in our area to inform the public of the cultural and economic value of the arts in education and society.
