Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Latham promotes showing respect of other living creatures. Learning how to be respectful toward animals, and other people is key to both your success and the improvement of society.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Educational film outreach
Latham has produced educational films that examine successful programs in the humane educational arena. Latham films focus on the "why" of the program to help the viewer gain insight on how that program might be successfully replicated. We have posted them online at Vimeo to make there use easier.
LINK outreach
The relationship between animal violence and human violence is too much an indicator to ignore. The National LINK Coalition (www.nationallinkcoalition.org is helping reach out to a diverse industries.
Grants for humane education
Latham began a grant program in 2018 to help encourage and fund humane education programs that we find are based on our core Latham humane education standards established in 1918. In 2018 we made grants of over 150,000

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to help improve society, one person at a time. Not a law change, but a personal change that will greatly improve the effectiveness of each person. We make annual grants to promote humane education.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Latham shares its success model by example, and encourages each person who learn this to then become a teacher in their own community. Annually, we focus on one facet of humane education and promote it by direct grants supporting programs from around the world.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We focus on our core values, as have for over 100 years. People change, and methods change, but good values do not. We honor traditional, conservative nonprofit management practices as we continue to promote humane education. Managing both for today, this year and the next five to ten years is a constant practice that allows us to continue our work successfully.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In our first 100 years, we touched millions of lives in dozens of countries with programs such as our hero animal awards, radio dramas, television programs, international poster contest and other works.
What is next ? To encourage others to promote humane education in all levels of their work, no longer just teaching children to be kind to animals, it is also showing respect to animals, and other people in all you do. Putting people and animals together for to help each other is a newer field we have documented and supported now for over 30 years.
In our 100th year, we began making direct grants to promote humane education. This annual practice will help highlight and promote the best practices and programs in the humane education area.
