Nourish All In Need

aka MOWMP   |   Pacific Grove, CA   |  http://www.mowmp.org/

Mission

Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula is guided by the belief that a person's health reflects the nurturing of the whole person—body, mind and spirit. Our programs are dedicated to promoting the physical, social, and personal well-being and independence of seniors, homebound frail elderly and disabled adults on the Monterey Peninsula. Programs and services enable people to enjoy good health and the highest quality of living as long as possible.

Notes from the nonprofit

In 2020 our Home Delivered Meals program met a 63% increase in demand for meals compared to 2019, as more seniors than ever before have relied on us to provide daily nutrition. Thank you to everyone who has participated in our success. Sincerely, Christine Winge, Executive Director

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The problem MOWMP works to alleviate is food insecurity and the lack of access to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members in our community. Food-insecure households are not necessarily food insecure all the time thus MOWMP offers a very flexible system to enter and exit our programs.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Meals on Wheels Community Center

Healthy nutrition and daily physical exercise are important components of the healthy aging process. Pre-retirement adults and retired, ambulatory seniors participate in the many exercise, health and wellness and enrichment classes offered at the Center to maintain and promote healthy aging.

The Meals on Wheels Community Center at 700 Jewell Avenue in Pacific Grove partners with other nonprofit agencies and members of the community to offer technology training and legal services for seniors, as well as other one-on-one services. These activities help seniors and their families to navigate the formal and informal social service networks available to them through privately funded, independent nonprofits as well as state and federally funded agencies. MOWMP programs also provide information and referral services to individuals and their families.
