Life Skills & Recreation Program

The Arc of Tempe Life Skills and Recreation program fills a unique niche in the community and in the lives of local adults with developmental disabilities. The program focuses on both practical and interpersonal skills, with activities ranging from learning to use public transportation to learning positive ways to assert oneself. Civic responsibility and participation are a major focus, so many of our activities occur in various places around the community. As participants become more involved in their community and become more comfortable in their role as members of the community, the community become aware that persons with developmental disabilties have many unique gifts and talents that strengthen and enrich the community as a whole.
