Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Life Enrichment Fund
You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old. Life Enrichment funds activities for residents and their families. Day trips to local attractions, movies, karaoke, arts and crafts, computer training, and visits from therapy dogs, llamas, cats, and miniature horses.
Resident Care Fund
Many residents worry about running out of money. It is comforting to know that Tacoma Lutheran will take care of them. TLRC is committed to providing quality care for our residents, even if they outlive their finances. Nearly half of our Health Center residents rely on Medicaid for their skilled nursing care and other daily needs. The Resident Care fund ensures that we can continue to serve them.
Touch of Care Fund
Fund to assist independent residents with financial needs not covered through other means: medication, rent, utilities, food, personal care, et al.
Chaplaincy Endowment
TLRC welcomes people of all faiths and from all walks of life. Our Chaplains are on site seven days a week to serve residents, their families and staff. They conduct daily nondenominational worship services; comfort residents and families in challenging times; visit residents in area hospitals at all hours of day or night; and counsel and encourage staff members.
Employee Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship program grants TLRC employees scholarships to further their education and enhance their professional skills. Our residents benefit by receiving the best care possible from our staff.
Arneklev Garden
The Arneklev Garden is a fully ADA accessible individual plot P-patch garden where residents can enjoy planting their own vegetables, herbs, or flowers. Special equipment such as lighter, more flexible hoses (that can withstand wheelchair encounters) enable residents to take full ownership of their garden.
Chihuly Family Art Center
In 2014, we opened the Art Center. Since that time it has remained a busy hub or gardening and art classes, sewing groups, woodworking, painting classes, and clay arts production. The Art Center has a part-time woodshop volunteer (a retired high school shop teacher), and local artists who come in regularly to lead classes. The Center includes a fully stocked wood shop, clay arts room and kiln, arts studio, and sewing studio. Rooms are open daily for drop in and casual use by residents and family members.
