Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

A. To continue to restore, preserve, and maintain the Davis Street Southern Pacific Passenger/Freight Station, a registered historical building by the City of San Leandro, to its original condition as set by the United States Secretary of Interior's Standards of Rehabilitation.

B. To establish, maintain, and operate a railway museum open for public viewing at specific times as set by the Society.

C. To build and maintain a representation operating railroad display in Size G, O, HO, or HON3 for public viewing at specific times as set the the Society.

Our Operation Lifesaver group gives presentations at all middle schools in our area about track and railroad safety. We also have weekly open hours and between 2-4 open house weekends every year to invite the community in and raise funds to further preserve our historic Southern Pacific depot and maintain the model trains within the Depot.

We generally spend all dollars we bring in to keep the layouts in working order, make some improvements on them, and keep the bills paid.

We have worked with the San Leandro School District to implement a program that every child in the city attends an Operation Lifesaver presentation in 6th grade to encourage safety. We have been able to add to our educational displays with an outdoor garden railroad with larger scale trains and an interactive layout for children.
