Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

A. Expand youth music education in West Central Idaho through:
1. Adding cello instruction to the High Mountain Strings program.
2. Increasing scholarships available to elementary and middle school age students.
3. Supporting local schools in their music curriculum.
4. Acquiring additional instruments for rent/loan.
5. Work with Boise Philharmonic to establish Music Summer Camp in McCall.
B. Continue to provide and improve the quality of music offerings in our area through
C. Supporting the Ponderosa Center in their efforts to fund and construct a convention
and performing arts facility.

A. Expanding our efforts to increase funding through grant applications, endowments and
fund raising activities.
B. Expanding community involvement through establishing auxiliaries to assist in these efforts.

A. The dedication, experience and talents of the Board of Directors and professional support staff.

A. Established funding for student scholarships. Next is to increase the scholarship program.
B. Established High Mountain Strings in 2017 which has grown from 6 violin students to 30
in 2019. Next is the addition of cellos and continued expansion of the program.
C. Established the SummerFest concert series in 2012 which has been held in July for 8 consecutive
years. Next is continued improvement in the quality of the concerts and their appeal to a wider
audience.
D. Developed the initial impetus for creating a performing arts center in McCall and spun-off a new
501c to pursue the design, land acquisition, and funding for its construction and on-going
operation. To date the design is complete, the land has been optioned, and funding efforts are in
progress. Next is to assist in obtaining the necessary funds for initiation of construction.
E. Co-sponsored Second Sunday Sounds at Six when the director needed support to keep the
program going. The Vice-President of the Board of the Music Society took on the role or
Managing Director in 2016 and the Society pledged $4,,000 in yearly support. The program is
well attended each month and audience feedback is excellent. Next is continuation of the program
F. Hired conductors for the McCall Orchestra and Chorale who perform a Christmas and Spring Concert
each year. This has noticeably increased the participation of local musicians and singers with marked
increase in the quality of the concerts. It has also improved the quality of the McCall Youth Orchestra, who
perform at these concerts.
G. Lobbied for the inclusion of an orchestra curriculum in McCall/Donnelly Middle and High Schools. This resulted
in the school district hiring a teacher to establish the program and curriculum. Next is support of the orchestra
music program.
H. Gifted xylophones and curriculum to the Roots Pre-school Education Organization to introduce music early in the
learning process. Agreed to provide funding for one-year, in the form of a grant, for a music teacher. Next is continued
support for this innovative program and potential addition of other pre-school organizations.
