Vaka Taumako Project

Educational programs to train a new generation to build voyaging vessels and navigate them to faraway islands using only ancient designs, materials, methods, and tool. To document and distribute cultural knowledge in writing, video, presentations and exchanges. To assist Vaka Valo Association, a charitable organization of Solomon Islands, to build capacity and execute voyaging cultural education programs. To educate outsiders in ancient voyaging knowledge. To build a permanent voyaging school that can accommodate students, including visiting students. To establish direct communications between Taumako and the outside world.
