We provide financial support to California State Parks specifically to fund maintenance and interpretation needs for Castle Rock and Portola Redwoods State Parks.

Interpretive Welcome Panels
INTERPRETIVE SERVICES: INTERPRETIVE PANELS at both Catle Rock and Portola Redwoods
Volunteer Training
Train volunteers in conjunction with State Parks. Volunteers walk the trails, meet visitors, work in the visitor center store. By doing so they free the State Park Rangers to patrol the Parks.
Backpacking Adventures
Support State Park backpacking trips around Castle Rock and Portola Redwoods State Parks.
Graffiti Removal
Provide supplies, and occasionally volunteers, to remove graffiti at Castle Rock State Park
Comfort Station Retrofit
Retrofit comfort stations (bathrooms, some with showers)
Remove interior lead paint, paint interios, replace old roofs, replace fixtures
VC Revitalization Project
Improvements to Portola Redwoods Visitor Center
New metal roof, new tongue and groove ceiling, replace single pane wood windows with double pane wood windows, upgrade electrical and lighting, rodent proof interior space
Trail Sign Project
Replace Trail Signs in Castle Rock and Portola Redwoods State Parks
Funded replacement of trail posts. Now we are funding replacement of the signs on trails throughout both state parks.

Assist in funding maintenance and interpretation needs of Castle Rock and Portola Redwoods State Parks to enhance the visitor experience.

We work closely with Parks to understand what needs to be funded based on their priorities.
We raise funds from donations and from selling merchandise at the Visitor Center store to enable us to provide funds for interpretation expenses and park maintenance.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have board members that volunteer as cashiers in the Visitor Center Store.
We created a trail crew to assist with ongoing trail maintenance needs.
We employee various fundraising strategies, including a membership program to generate donations.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2023, we had two record breaking merchandise sales periods.
The trail crew continues to make progress on trail maintenance every month.
