What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Forestry
We help forest owners manage their lands for a balance of sustainable timber revenue, water quality, wildlife habitat, carbon storage, recreation, and other amenities. We provide educational workshops and trainings so that land stewards can undertake forest management themselves. In addition, we provide hands-on management, beginning with the crafting of a customized long-term plan for the property, continuing through the management of timber harvest, all the way through the follow-up stages to limit erosion, replant forest openings, and control invasive species.
We serve families, land trusts, youth camps, municipalities, and other forest owners whose goals include ecological protection alongside a sustainable stream of income from the forest.
Forest certification
Through our group certificate, we provide landowners with reasonably priced access to Forest Stewardship Council certification, the most rigorous and credible forest certification system available in our region.
In addition, we collaborate with regional partners to make certified forest products more widely available to retail customers, builders, manufacturers, and lumberyards in the Pacific Northwest.
