Mission

This alliance of national and international agencies has come together to allow donors the opportunity to assist the charities who are making the biggest difference in health standards for today and the future. HMR member agencies are screened annually to ensure that they meet the highest standards of substantive program services, management and fiscal responsibility. The organization is managed by a volunteer board of directors. HMR reflects the way Americans want to give by offering more choices. Ultimately, HMR is all about giving everyone, everywhere a chance to live a healthy, active life. By contributing, you become part of an innovative solution and make a commitment towards optimum health for humanity.

Screening and certification for inclusion in workplace campaigns

As a federation, Health & Medical Research Charities of America represents health and medically related charitable organizations in workplace campaigns (including the Combined Federal Campaign, State/local and private sector campaigns).  To accomplish it’s mission, HMR provides the following programs and services to its members and the giving public:
-       Fund drive application assistance
-       Review and certification of charitable agency eligibility documentation
-       Representation of the members before fund drive organizing and/or regulatory authorities
-       Disseminating information about the work of the charities to the workplace giving public
-       Organizing member participation in fund drive promotional and educational events
-  Forwarding contributor name and address information, if requested, and accounting for and transmitting of gift funds, with annual audit

Health and Medical Research Charities of America is a federation whose partners are America's most advanced health and medical research charities, striving to serve all people through the most advanced and innovative research and treatment available. These partner charities work to promote awareness and education for a myriad of diseases and illnesses.

The Health and Medical Research Charities of America federation is composed of a range of nonprofits that work to relieve suffering and despair. Our partner organizations are dedicated to advancing medical breakthroughs, helping those facing a medical crisis and providing support to children and families facing a medical challenge.

There are many fundraising venues available to donors as they seek established and responsible nonprofit organizations to support. Workplace giving is a valuable employee benefit, fostering social responsibility, enabling connection with worthy organizations and engagement with one another. HMR educates contributors about the work we and our partners do to serve all people through the most advanced and innovative research and treatment available.

Beyond traditional workplace giving, HMR assists generous donors in giving to the causes that mean the most to them by offering more effective ways to give online, provide recurring sustaining support, employer matching and legacy giving opportunities, and mobile device giving capabilities, through corporate, government and municipal fund drives.

Partner charities are thoroughly screened to guarantee that they provide exceptional Program Service and fiscal responsibility. Donors can be confident that their generosity is funding the most trusted medical and research charities assuring the greatest impact. These standards of review meet and exceed the guidelines of Charity Navigator, Guidestar and the Combined Federal Campaign.

Health and Medical Research Charities of America continues to connect generous donors with exceptional nonprofits through direct donations as well as corporate and workplace fundraising opportunities.

Since 1997, HMR has raised over 187 million dollars. We are a critical source of revenue for over 150 national and local partners. Through workplace giving, every year our organization connects millions of employees with animal related charities. As the working environment continues to change, so have we continued to identify and develop giving strategies responsive to the remote workplaces, shared jobs and distributed locations of our generous donors.
