Mission

Mission Statement
WiRED International brings vital medical and health education free of charge to underserved communities around the world.

WiRED is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that has been providing medical and health education to conflict-affected and low-resource regions since 1997. WiRED has worked in war zones, natural disaster areas and in some of the world's most remote and impoverished places.

WiRED delivers cutting edge, technology-based health education tools to people in underserved communities. All materials are free of charge online and for download onto portable media.

WiRED's Center for the Development and Distribution of Health Education Programs offers more than 350 interactive medical and health education modules, which enable physicians and nurses, patients, healthcare workers and communities to address the prevention and treatment of both infectious and non-communicable diseases in developing areas of the world. WiRED's technology can put hundreds of health training programs in someone's pocket, take these programs beyond the grid, and run them on portable laptops and projectors powered by a solar generator the size of a paperback book.

All training modules are developed by WiRED International's team of physicians, medical editors, imagers and technicians along with a host of other medical experts. All modules are peer reviewed. The team continually updates the existing material and creates new modules to provide a rich source of health information.

WiRED's strategy to improve health outcomes in low-income regions is to create a relationship that values patients as partners in their own care by providing them with education and training. Thus, in the new paradigm of health care, there is a strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork between medical professionals, healthcare workers and patients. Inherent in the creation of these robust partnerships is the availability of accurate information and reliable training programs for all players.

Health education advances “community immunity." When enough people are vaccinated, their immunity protects even the unvaccinated around them. WiRED believes that health education acts in the same way. Providing health education to as many people in a community as possible helps the entire community combat life-threatening health issues.
