At UGM, we seek to help those troubled with addictions and alcoholism, to not only rehabilitate themselves physically, but to transform themselves spiritually. Many approaches to controlling these problems emphasize control. Too often, people become “dry drunks,” waiting to use again when life’s pressures become too much.

We believe that God offers transformation, the ability to truly change and no longer be held hostage by the chains of addiction. Our therapy involves physical, mental and spiritual support that helps men find a real, lasting answer to their problems, and a support community to help them restart their lives that involves over 31 churches in the Sacramento area.

Bible study for women is every Thursday at 9:30am. Afterwards, they get food and have access to a variety of essential items such as clothing, purses, shoes, and sundries to assist them with their daily needs, help them prepare for work; even clothing, formula, and diapers for their children.

Every evening we have a different volunteer church group conduct a chapel service for our guests before they have dinner. Our guests look forward to chapel because they get to hear the Word of God and realize there is a hope. After chapel, our guests are directed to the dining hall where
they are served a hot, well-balanced and nutritious meal by a volunteer church group.

Twice weekly, and on holidays, we distribute food boxes to low-income families to help in emergency circumstances. Depending on each family’s situation, they are given a food basket from our pantry. We provide more than enough food to meet the needs of the family unit during their crisis.

The Mission is able to lodge 60+ homeless men nightly. We allow each man shelter for seven consecutive days and three days off to provide a chance for other unfortunate men. Free showers, clean clothes and toiletries are available to homeless men on a daily basis, including mail service.
