Notes from the nonprofit

Life brings us challenges, and sometimes we’re left with wounds that need healing. It can be helpful to talk with a counselor about issues related to our work, marriage, family, or personality. The counselors at Link Care Center extend care to anyone who would benefit from their expertise. We are privileged to extend our services to everyone in our community.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Restoration and Personal Growth Program (RPG)

The Restoration and Personal Growth (RPG) program is an intensive, on-campus program for Christian leaders to receive care. Missionaries, pastors, and families arrive on campus from all over the globe with extreme stress and burned out. The program helps our clients find renewed perspectives on life and ministry, address issues related to stress and burnout, work through marital distress, cross-cultural adjustments, career evaluations, morality issues, adjustment for children, grief and loss, and concerns related to transitions.

Our clinical team of Psychologists, Marriage & Family Therapists, Social Workers, and Pastoral Counselors is specially equipped to engage the unique challenges that this population experiences. The program includes individual and couples counseling, pastoral counseling, men's group, women's group, community group, family counseling, and counseling for the children as needed. Approximately 70% of those who have been in the RPG Program return to ministry.

Link Care is blessed to have highly qualified clinical counselors on staff trained to help ministers with their unique challenges. The Fund allows our licensed clinicians to provide five free sessions to any licensed or credentialed full-time pastor. Additional sessions are provided to pastors based on their needs and financial resources. Telehealth enables us to expand our Fresno-based Pastor Care Program statewide and make our expertise available to pastors throughout California.

Many pastors find it tough to talk about their challenges with the people they are closest to -their congregation and church leadership. We help them by providing a safe, supportive environment that offers Christ-Centered counseling. When we provide care to a pastor, this care directly impacts the pastor, their family, and the church they serve. In turn, healthier pastors make more of a difference in the many lives they touch! It is our desire to expand this care to pastors' wives and children.

We also serve seniors (age 55 and up) by offering affordable housing on our Fresno campus of nearly 9 acres. Built decades ago, the 108 residences range from 355 square-foot studios to 1,100 square-foot, three-bedroom apartments. Rental rates include utilities and are well below market value at $650 to $1,050 per month.

Our Senior Housing also boasts a swimming pool and three coin-operated laundry rooms on site. It is an Independent Living Community for those aged 55 and up. Apartments are all single-story and handicap accessible. Mail is delivered right to the resident's door.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Link Care Center has provided care to over 6,000 missionaries through our restoration and personal growth program. By 2025, we hope to significantly increase the number of individuals who seek care through this program. In addition, we want to develop short-term intensive treatment programs for missionaries dealing with specific needs relating to trauma, parenting, and debriefing. We hope to expand our care for pastors, providing more services locally and moving our pastor care program to the state level through telehealth services. We are also expanding our clinical training program to provide a high level of clinical training and to expand the services that we provide to those with financial needs. Further, we strive to provide more training on mental health issues to pastors and individuals in our community.

We help Christian leaders by providing a safe, supportive environment that offers Christ-Centered healing and restoration. Our programs include individual and couples counseling, pastoral counseling, men’s group, women’s group, community group, family counseling, and counseling for the children as needed. Since 1965, Link Care has provided high-quality clinical counseling to more than 6,000 missionaries worldwide, hundreds of local pastors, and thousands of community members in Fresno, California. We specialize in helping pastors and missionaries suffering from stress and burnout.

The core staff consists of fourteen highly experienced clinicians who are holistic and inclusive, providing care to the individual and the entire family system. Our Clinical Staff includes two licensed psychologists, four Marriage & Family Therapists, a licensed Clinical Social Worker, two Pastoral Counselors, Associate Marriage. And Family Therapists, and two Marriage and Family Therapy Trainees.

We are proud to be a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. ECFA provides accreditation to leading Christian nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance with established standards for financial accountability, transparency, fundraising, and board governance. As Link Care seeks to be the best stewards of the Lord's resources, we are honored to be accepted for this membership and the resources that are available to us through ECFA

Accomplishments
Restoration and Personal Growth Program (RPG)
Over the past 55 years, the RPG program has provided care to over 6,000 pastors with a return to service rate between 70-75%. This translates to approximately 4,500 missionaries that have returned to ministry after receiving care through our program. Twenty-four families and seven singles have been served in 2022 – more than double the number helped by this program in 2020.

Pastor Care Program
The Pastor Care Fund provides five free sessions to any credentialed, full-time pastor in California. These front-line workers can be served in our Fresno office or via telehealth. Our clinical team provides high-quality counseling in a confidential environment. Since the inception of this program, care has been provided to 315 pastors.

Counseling Services
Due to the pandemic, we have seen a significant increase in demand for high-quality counseling within our community. As our counselors are busy trying to respond to the need of our Fresno neighbors, we recognize that many seeking care cannot afford the cost of treatment. Thanks to individual donors and a large group of supportive and connecting churches, our clinical team has provided 170 sessions free or at a reduced fee to our local community in 2022. Over 500 clients per year seek therapeutic services at Link Care.

Training program
Currently, Link Care has two individuals in our counselor training program. This provides counselors with faith in Christ a place to develop their clinical skills while learning how to integrate their faith into their clinical practice ethically. In addition, trainees can accept clients at a reduced fee while under the supervision of an outstanding team of licensed clinicians at Link Care.

Goals
Restoration and Personal Growth Program (RPG) - Our goal is for 70% percent of those served in the RPG program for missionaries and pastors to return to their mission field.

Serving Christian Leadership is our specialty, and pastors can usually receive a counseling appointment with our Pastor Care program within a week of inquiry. Community members are worked into our schedule within six to eight weeks. We aim to cut that waiting time down to two to three weeks.

Pastor Care Fund - Our goal is to increase the number of ministers across California able to complete the Pastor Care program through our telehealth expansion. We offered five free sessions to 20 ministers last year. We also hope to provide similar treatment to their spouses and children in the future.
