Achievements for the 2018-2019 year include:-Celebrating the fact that our building was built 100 years ago by Julia Morgan, the first woman architecht in Ca. -Continuance of the Encore Plus Mammogram program for people with no insurance for the early detection of breast cancer. Despite the diminished funding, this program saved lives as well as expanded outreach areas.-The first ever See It-End Film and Arts Festival was created to promote the prevention of human trafficking by awareness and to end human trafficking. This was a never done before event that brought more than 800 people. More than half of the audience had no prior infomration on the topic which is the second largest crime industry. Over 19 movies were shown, followed by a panel discussion with experts after each showing.-The decision to begin a development of a side property that is currently only used for storage into a housing development for single parents with children, to help with the homeless housing crisis. This development is progressing.-Board development and structure as a goal for the next years, encouraging better governance, with a need for a secure plan for the YWCA's next 100 years to bring stability and sustainability to the organization.-The Thrift Store in the basement of the YW Julia Morgan Building took some overhauling of items and reorganizing the store, which is transforming the Thrift Store into a sustainable department within the YW also incorporating the Cradle Closet and a voucher program to help those in need.-Our childcare Worldtots LA provides excellent childcare development to our most precious charges, and the teachers are much loved and continue to see our Worldtots children thrive to get ready for the Kindergarten part of their development.
