Mission

Sinai Temple is dedicated to providing a welcoming and caring community for its members, devoted to Jewish learning and support for Israel and the Jewish people, and committed to improving ourselves and the world through a growing relationship with God from generation to generation.

We are committed to the principles and values of Conservative Judaism and we welcome Jews of all backgrounds and affiliations to observe life cycle events, and pursue our mission through prayer, rituals, learning, music and the other gifts God has given us.

Sinai Akiba Academy, a Solomon Schechter Conservative Jewish day school established in 1968, draws on the rich traditions of our Jewish heritage while offering a powerful academic environment—creating an exceptional educational and spiritual journey for your child.

At Sinai Akiba, we are committed to developing a joyous appreciation of learning in a supportive, rigorous environment that builds confidence, ignites curiosity and encourages creative expression, while developing highly disciplined study habits. We challenge each child to aspire to the pinnacle of his or her capabilities—through both academic excellence and Jewish tradition—encouraging children to develop into knowledgeable, responsible, ethical and empathetic young people. The result is an educational experience that fosters intellectual and emotional growth, while promoting a strong sense of personal worth and Jewish identity.

A challenging general studies curriculum includes opportunities for children to learn about their world through literature, social studies and science. As students gain essential skills in these areas, they develop their abilities to analyze and draw conclusions. We cultivate an understanding and concern for the natural world and foster ease with technology, while nurturing a love for history, appreciation for the arts and enhancement of physical abilities. As a co-educational, egalitarian school, leadership skills and creativity are especially encouraged through co-curricular activities including student council, arts programs, league sports, physical education and after-school clubs.

At Sinai Akiba, children develop a positive sense of Jewish identity and a reverence for our traditions by actively participating in Jewish practice, the study of Jewish texts and conversational Hebrew. Art projects, songs and dramatic presentations enhance these studies and serve to make holiday celebrations warm, exciting events. We emphasize social interaction and mutual respect—and, through tzedakah (charity) and community service projects, we teach responsibility to others.

Sinai Akiba Academy is a living example of K'lal Yisrael, the diverse Jewish community. Our school weaves together children from various national, socio-economic and religious backgrounds, unified by Jewish tradition.

We teach respect for the diversity of Jewish practice within a culturally rich, caring community that empowers students with a keen sense of their connection to the larger community—the keystone for becoming compassionate Jewish leaders in their communities and the world.
