Olive Crest
Strong Families, Safe Kids
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Every 10 seconds a report of child abuse is made, and 5 children die each day from child abuse related causes. In addition, there are over 400,000 children and teens in the child welfare system at any one time, victims of abuse, neglect and in need of the love and support of a strong family in order to thrive and become healthy productive citizens.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Residential
Olive Crest began as a home that provided shelter and love to four teenage girls. Nearly fifty years later, we continue to ensure safe homes for children, offering safety, healing and permanence to youth who have suffered from abuse and neglect.
Our Residential programs allows children, teens, and young adults to live in caring family neighborhoods appropriate for their age, gender and background. Youth are empowered to choose a positive lifestyle through services that are individual, unique and implemented with dignity.
Over 300 are served annually in our Residential, Transitional Housing, and Non-Minor Dependent programs.
Foster & Adoption
With our training and in-home support, Olive Crest recruits, trains and certifies foster and adoptive family homes from the community to provide warm, secure and safe environments for children. Over 1200 children annually are given loving homes and the opportunity to thrive through qualified, supportive families. Since receiving our adoption licenses in 1998, Olive Crest celebrated with more than 3000 kids who have been permanently adopted into forever families. Our care includes infants, children, teenagers and children with special needs. "Olive Crest kids" and parents are provided ongoing therapy, training, and support services to ensure the best possible outcomes. The ages and stages of our children may be different, but they all desire the same thing: to have a loving, patient and committed family that cares deeply about them and can provide for their unique needs.
Education
Kids in crisis often fall behind academically which can hinder their ability to prepare for a successful transition into adulthood. Olive Crest has a number of programs to help youth excel in education and overcome the roadblocks they have experienced.
As part of our commitment to fulfilling the individual needs of our youth, Olive Crest is dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to receive education and training that will help them advance both academically and in life. A personalized approach to educational goals, social development and long-term independent living skills give the children of Olive Crest a clear path towards successful futures.
More than 1000 youth are served through our Education programs annually.
Family Preservation
Olive Crest focuses on the healing power of family, striving in every case possible to keep families together. Our Family Preservation team works directly with families who are at-risk or caught in the cycle of abuse. Using innovative treatment services and community-based resources, the goal is early intervention to stop the cycle of abuse by bringing healing into the home while strengthening and stabilizing families in crisis.
Each year over 10,000 families receive parent education, counseling, and case management services through Olive Crest and our integrated Family Resource Centers.
Community Involvement
A trustworthy role model. A stocking filled with goodies. A first overnight camping trip, emotional, educational, relational and spiritual needs. Through our Community Involvement program, we maximize the talents and resources of volunteers to enrich the lives of our youth, helping every child grow personally through new and positive experiences. Olive Crest's Community Involvement program is designed to make lasting connections between the community and our children and families - creating a stable environment for growth at Olive Crest and beyond.
