Programs and results
What we aim to solve
We seek to bring together the individual voices of the 23 campus CSU alumni associations into one organization that harnesses this collective strength. We promote best practices, collaborate on shared goals, and collectively represent the California State University's 4 million alumni.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Advocacy/Engagement
Provide activities advocating on behalf of the California State University, its students and alumni. Major program component includes the Made in the CSU project which highlights the contributions of California State University alumni as leaders in the state and nation's major industries. View the project at www.calstate.edu/alumni/madeinthecsu. Also includes advocacy activities on behalf of the CSU.
Alumni Council Meetings
Provide two major in-person professional development meetings each year, and two virtual meetings for Alumni Council member organizations.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
--We advocate for the CSU
--We represent the interests of our alumni at the system level
--We facilitate the growth and development of our member associations to engage alumni
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Advocate for the CSU: Partner with stakeholders, Provide advocacy tools to Alumni Council members, Enhance CSU reputation
Represent the Interests of Alumni at the System Level: Engage with stakeholders, Enhance visibility of CSU Alumni Council, Alumni Trustee representation
Facilitate the Growth and Development of Member Associations to Engage Alumni: Support Graduation Initiative 2025, Organizational development of the CSU Alumni Council and campus alumni associations
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
-The Alumni Council is uniquely positioned as the systemwide entity to provide centralized services and programs to benefit each of our campus alumni associations as well as our work at the system level.
-Campus dues, sponsorships, meeting registration fees and investment income provide stable revenue streams to offer professional development programs, advocacy activities and promote alumni engagement.
-As the recognized voice of the CSU alumni associations before the Board of Trustees, the Alumni Council has unique messaging opportunities to share the needs, successes and impact of our alumni programs on the success of the university and today's students.
-Partnerships with other systemwide organizations representing key constituencies (i.e. Academic Senate CSU, California State Student Association) provide the opportunity to work collaboratively on important projects and initiatives.
-Our healthy reserve account allows us flexibility to put additional resources toward key initiatives.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Progress has been made in the following areas:
-Leverage the identity and brand of the CSU. We have continued to showcase alumni at the CSU Board of Trustees meetings. This touches on several areas including raising the profile of the CSU Alumni Council.
-Engage alumni via systemwide events. We have offered numerous systemwide regional events domestically and internationally to alumni of all 23 campuses.
-We have supported Graduation Initiative 2025 through a focus on alumni support of students related to basic needs and career preparation.
