Mission

Our Mission: to promote the art of Music Arranging, Composition and Orchestration within the entertainment industry community and the general public. Our Purpose: to provide its membership a place to make contact with each other to exchange ideas and information about the art of music and the music industry. ASMAC seeks to educate and inform both the general public and the commercial arts community about the roles its members play in the creation of music past and present. ASMAC also encourages emerging arrangers and composers in their development.

Scholarships

The American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate college students who are studying music composition and arranging in an American college, conservatory, or university. You must be a currently paid student member of ASMAC.

ASMAC is presents the Bill Conti Big Band Arranging & Composing Competition! The Big Band Arranging & Composing Competition is sponsored by the renowned Oscar and Emmy award winning composer/conductor Bill Conti (Rocky, The Right Stuff, For Your Eyes Only, Rocky Balboa, Dynasty, Falcon Crest and numerous annual Academy Award ceremonies, to name a few). Thanks to Mr. Conti for his longstanding support of this competition which recognizes some of the most promising young arrangers and composers of jazz orchestra music.

The competition is open to all Student or Associate Members of ASMAC in good standing, age 29 or under.

ASMAC hosts many on-going workshop and full-day class style opportunities for members and the general public to learn more about the many techniques, new methods and tips for success in the field of music composition and arranging. In the past, the group hosted First Wednesdays, Master Classes, and Luncheons. During the pandemic, as of early 2023, ASMAC has hosted nearly 200 online events and Master Classes. A schedule is on the website.
