What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What separates St. Paul's from other fine private schools in Los Angeles is our Community and the understanding that a child's education is not merely academic, but one that includes lessons in spirituality and experiences outside of the classroom. Several of the programs and experiences used in this noble endeavor are made possible by the work and support of the Foundation. The Sister Stella Foundation is a parent run, non-profit organization formed nearly 40 years years ago to provide leadership and funding for projects, programs, equipment, materials and services which will have a direct impact on the development of the whole child and that are outside of the annual school budget. The Foundation raises money from the school community and friends with the intent to spend these funds on current projects.

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

The mission of the Sister Stella Foundation for Saint Paul the Apostle School is to provide leadership and funding for projects, programs, equipment, materials and services which have a direct impact on the development of the whole child and that are outside of the annual school budget. The Foundation raises money from the school community and friends with the intent to spend these funds on current projects.

We collaborate with the School Principal, staff and community to identify opportunities for improvement. We fund and incubate programs that directly benefit the children.

We raise money from the school, parish and alumni community to support our efforts. The Foundation raises money annually with the intent to spend these funds on current projects.

Our progress is very tangible. It can be measured by the number of iPads/laptops in the classrooms as we progress towards our ultimate goal of one device for every student in the school. It can be measured by our continued and increased access to the Mormon field in support of the school's athletic program. It can be measured by the number of new initiatives introduced each year as we seek to incubate and develop new programs.

Major progress on the school's technology initiative, including providing personal iPads/laptops across all grades. Secured access to and expanded usage of the adjacent Mormon field to support the school's athletic program. Provided REDCAT auditory assistive devices for the classroom. Introduction of and continued support for Instructional Technology Coordinator position. Funded startup and development of SPA's Robotics program. Expanded community outreach, including development of relationship with our sister school, Ascension. Funded major upgrade of electrical and audio visual systems in the school's auditorium/community hall. Development of the school's on-campus Cultural Enrichment program and off-campus overnight field trips for 5th, 6th and 7th grades.
