What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Naturalization Program

FASGI helps immigrants become US Citizens. We provide assistance in completing application forms and determine the client’s eligibility for a full or partial waiver of the federally mandated application fee. All applications go through a legal review process by an immigration lawyer. Becoming a citizen gives a person the right to vote, qualify for federal jobs, and makes it easier to apply for your family to join you in the United States.

Please note that we continue to assist applicants with their citizenship application during the COVID-19 lockdown. For information and assistance please email Yey Coronel at [email protected] or send a text message at 818-271-0901 Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information on the process in applying for naturalization, please click on the following link: https://www.fasgi.org/

Population(s) Served

We implement a combination of medical and holistic approaches, which include the following:

1. Healthy Perspectives Program – an array of educational classes that deal with health, wellbeing, and other relevant issues to equip clients with the knowledge needed to deal with everyday life.

2. Young At Heart – various activities catered towards active seniors who are unable to socialize and are facing loneliness, isolation, depression, and fear, especially due to the COVID pandemic.

3. Referral services – for those in need of counseling

4. Education and awareness – dissemination of information to the community

5. Cultural Programs - to educate Filipino Americans on Filipino culture (including dispelling myths and providing corrected historical information) for self-awareness and to develop cultural pride. According to experts, having a sense of one's culture improves one's ability for success.

Population(s) Served

FASGI's Arts Incubator Program was created in 2016 to promote and uplift Filipino and Filipino American arts and culture. The program’s mission is to:

1. Help Filipino American artists to be properly recognized and given economic opportunities for advancement;

2. Enable Filipino Americans to get in touch with their culture; and

3. To educate mainstream America on Philippine/American art.

Our program currently includes a permanent gallery, an annual exhibit (Pangitain at Pananaw – Visions and Viewpoints), special exhibits, and an artist-in-residence program. FASGI currently has 15 Filipino American artists participating in the program.

Population(s) Served

In addition to several health and wellness activities conducted, FASGI holds the annual Kapayapaan Festival, which is designed to promote wellness and peace of mind, body and spirit. The Kapayapaan Festival is a free day-long symposium of speakers, health classes, screenings and wellness checks, holistic healing, and free healthy food.
