Miriam's House

Miriam's House, a 15 bedroom converted convent located in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles, is a recovery home for mothers and a refuge for children. At Miriam's House clients commit to a comprehensive agenda encompassing recovery, parenting, life-skills and vocational training. Structured around a year-long curriculum, clients move through a two-phase program with incremental expectations and responsibilities. Residency is contingent on maintaining continuous sobriety, participation in a 12-step recovery program, enrollment in a ten week parenting class, and actively striving toward self-sufficiency and employment during the later phases. On a daily basis clients participate in a combination of in-house activities and services. On-site programs offered include: weekly individual goal assessment, parenting classes and case management, group meditation, 12-step meetings, seminars, and childcare. Miriam's House collaborates with over 15 local community organizations.
