Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

• Operation School Bell – serve more students each year
• Dental Health Center – serve more patients each year
• Membership Development – increase membership each year
• Operations/Financial Management – assure policies and procedures, standing rules, and by-laws accurately reflect the current organization; assure staff have the necessary tools to do their jobs, and that volunteers are trained to facilitate programs; provide accurate financial reports; and assure organizational financial sustainability
• Marketing/Promotion – improve community awareness and the opportunities for human and financial support.

 Increase service to students by appointing an OSB Co-Chair to research and develop a relationship with new vendor and open the program to students on public assistance.
______________________________
 Increase number of new unduplicated patients receiving services at the Dental Center by enhancing community outreach and providing more effective school-based programs.
______________________________
 Increase online and social networking funding opportunities; and research and develop new fundraisers.

______________________________
 Improve new member packets; update Chair position descriptions; assure Board has training/development opportunities.

______________________________
 Create an updated brochure; form a Speakers Bureau, Advisory Council and research forming an Assisteens affiliate; double League membership over the next 5 years.

Our membership is based on a wide variety of people from the San Bernardino area. Our volunteer base consists of teachers, administrators, financial officers, medical and dental professionals along with stay at home mothers and retired professionals.

We have developed a partnership with the San Bernardino City Unified School District in providing clothing to children K-12 with our Operation School Bell program and work closely with the parent resource center in identifying and connecting with the students in need. We have also partnered with Loma Linda University Dental School in providing Dental Oral Hygiene Instruction to all Kindergartners in the San Bernardino City Unified School District with use of Assistance League Volunteers.

Our developed partnerships continue to allow us to reach out to the students in the community and encourages those who work in those areas to assist us in our fund raising and grant opportunities.

In the past year Assistance League of San Bernardino has provided dental hygiene kits and oral hygiene instruction to over 3,000 1st graders in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. We have also been able to provide school clothing to over 150 children in the same district. Our greatest obstacle with clothing more children is the cutbacks in the school district and the inability for school staff to transport the children to the store our volunteers use to clothe the children. Each child has the ability to work with school staff and volunteers to choose their own clothing. We are looking for more grants and ways we can have more children clothed. With LLU we hope to provide more opportunities for older students who are in need of braces and cannot afford them reach that goal of having a better smile. Assistance League is excited in the partnerships they have with San Bernardino City Unified School District and Loma Linda University Dental School. With our partnerships we look to provide more students clothing, oral hygiene instruction and orthodontia care.
