What we aim to solve
We advance our mission to address social, economic, and environmental justice in Hawai'i through community-based economic development; and seek to help strengthen the voice and actions of Hawai'i's families and communities so that they have the choice and control they need to become self-sufficient and resilient.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Coming together with a mindset of kākou (we, inclusive of 3 or more), including all living creatures, to rethink how we as a community can organize to reimagine our economy towards a vision of cultural wellness as we face climate change in both physical and social embodiments.
Intentional and deliberate connection of work.
Strengthening the organization from an administrative and resource perspective.
Prioritization of team health and well-being.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
With guidance out of HACBED's 30th anniversary which incorporates the visions of founders and partners, we will center projects that the team is most passionate about and where we can make significant impact. We recommit to going to the communities that are impacted and hearing from those doing the work and those who need to be heard. We will work with people who are committed and follow through.
We will continue to strengthen our financial stability through continued budget and forecasting efforts as well as diversifying our savings portfolio.
We will prioritize team health and well-being by maintaining an environment that supports team members making full and timely use of their time off to fully recharge. This will include piloting a 32 hour work week with the success of the pilot to be determined based on bi-weekly and monthly surveys, ongoing workflow efficiency conversations, and workflow adjustments based on feedback.
