What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Life is hard in Haiti. Everything is hard in Haiti… except for the hearts of the people. The people are crying out for the love of Jesus. I met young men and women who travel for miles on foot to attend Bible studies. I met young children who have never gone to school. I met a young boy at church whose brother was at home because they only have one pair of shoes and have to share each week. I saw first-hand the suffering due to lack of infrastructure, shelter, power, medical resources, and education. God has called us to go and serve his people, to make disciples… to the ends of the earth. How is he calling you? Who shall he send?

Christian Discipleship

Stone of Help Haiti provides pastoral oversight and ministry training to community churches and church leaders in Haiti. Improvements in local churches represent the growing spiritual health of the community. None of the physical relief efforts will have the same level of life-changing impact as God’s Word.

Population(s) Served
Economically disadvantaged people

Stone of Help Haiti endeavors to provide an atmosphere where children and youth may realize and develop their God-given gifts and abilities. Our vision is to see God’s children reach their full potential and become a positive asset in the communities where they reside. This is accomplished in two primary ways: 1) Investing in fundamental education as well as professional and technical training. 2) Supporting and building schools in communities where the greatest needs exist.

Population(s) Served
Economically disadvantaged people

Stone of Help Haiti is dedicated to confronting ongoing healthcare issues while seeking to impact communities via the gospel of Jesus Christ. We purpose to serve healthcare needs of local communities and remote villages by mobilizing volunteers and healthcare professionals who operate primarily through local churches and schools. We are also active in confronting the harsh reality of widespread hunger.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Stone of Help Haiti aims to promote spiritual and social transformation of the Haitian people, primarily through Christian Discipleship and actions in Education, Health and Nutrition within various communities. Our vision is to witness the life-changing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it is seen and spoken in lives and relationships.

Christian Discipleship: Stone of Help provides pastoral oversight and ministry training to community churches and church leaders in Haiti. Our aim is to teach and unify this network of churches in sound Biblical doctrine.

Education: Stone of Help endeavors to provide an atmosphere where children and youth may realize and develop their God-given gifts and abilities. This is accomplished in two primary ways:
• Investing in fundamental education as well as advanced and professional training.
• Building schools in communities where the greatest needs exist.

Health & Nutrition: Stone of Help is dedicated to confronting ongoing healthcare issues while seeking to impact communities via the gospel of Jesus Christ. We purpose to serve healthcare needs of local communities and remote villages by mobilizing volunteers and healthcare professionals who operate primarily through local churches and schools. Stone of Help is active in confronting the harsh reality of widespread hunger. We resolve to provide children with a school-time meal on a daily basis. Stone of Help Haiti also serves to encourage the local production of crops from which we purchase most extensively.

We currently have a a full-time missionary in Haiti and a group of visiting servants who partner with an established network of 11 churches. We have a local mission base, and are securing land for future growth. We are raising support to build infrastructure and programs to address the ongoing critical needs for education, health, and nutrition.

We have relocated two families to Haiti for full-time, long-term ministry, as well as one intermediate term internship. We secured a ministry vehicle and mission home located in the city of Petionville which serves as a ministry hub, refuge, and training center. This past year, SoHH's mission home served as a center of retreat for young adults who gathered together on two multi-day occasions for a time of instruction and encouragement in the things of God. The mission home also provides a place for our praise and worship team to assemble together.

Essential repairs and improvements continued on our home church building located in the village of Ganthier. Thanks to generous support and the collective effort of the local population, we accomplished much needed repairs and improvements on our home church building. This structure, once devastated by the earthquake of 2010, now stands as a multi-purpose facility in carrying-out His Kingdom business in this community. In addition to normal Sunday service, our church home is now equipped to hold midweek Bible studies, English classes and youth and adult ministries on a consistent basis.

Stone of Help Haiti sponsored two short-term missions this past fiscal year. Ministry activities included a three-day multi-church revival meeting as well as a two day soccer outreach and the public sharing of God's Word. The women of our affiliate churches gathered on the church grounds of Ganthier for a week-long conference and a blessed time of praise and worship, instruction from God's Word, and prayer.

Stone of Help Haiti is active in identifying and meeting the financial challenges of children who are unable to afford basic education. We reached out to a community school of approximately sixty underprivileged children in the city of Tabarre. Our efforts also included financial aid to six dedicated teachers. We also provided four school-time meals for all grade levels.

Stone of Help Haiti ministers to a network of eleven churches throughout various communities. The mountain regions are particularly difficult to navigate. SoHH reached out to two mountain communities this past fiscal year. We received a hearty welcome from the church community of Fe Yo Byen whom we came alongside to provide assistance in land survey and assessment needed for church renovation and expansion. Pr. Abel also traveled to the mountain region of Sanite where he officiated a triple wedding in July of this year.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Aug 01 - Jul 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

God's Word, the Bible, speaks of the prophet Samuel raising his Ebenezer (literally “Stone of Help") as a memorial to God's enduring faithfulness. This account is also a promise of God's faithfulness in present times as well as the days ahead when we follow His will, His way, and on His watch. God called me to the land of Haiti in 2010 following the country's devastating earthquake. He would call me back repeatedly, leaving no doubt of His calling on my life to minister to the spiritual, physical, and practical needs of the Haitian people. By God's enabling grace, I shall be faithful to the vision He has set before me. What a testimony to God's lovingkindness that He continues to provide many “Ebenezer" occasions by revealing glimpses of His glory through Stone of Help Haiti. It is truly a blessed assurance to know that “Thus far the LORD has helped us." 1 Samuel 7:12
