What we aim to solve
The homeless pet situation in deep South Texas seems overwhelming. Every week thousands of pets are euthanized at the public humane societies in order to make room for the constant intake of more animals. Failure to spay/neuter pets leads to more unwanted pregnancies resulting in puppies too often neglected and abandoned. Without the freezes common up north, the semi-tropical climate of this area lets animals abandoned linger for many months prior to succumbing to starvation and disease. So the number of stray animals is far greater in this area than in most of the nation.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
No-kill Animal Shelter
On over ten acres of land, Cinderella Pet Rescue maintains a no-kill animal shelter with a regular population of over 70 dogs and 30 cats. Upon admission each animal is vaccinated, dewormed, scheduled for spay/neuter surgery, micro-chipped and tested for heart-worms and other diseases. Once fully vetted and socialized, pets are made available for adoption. Potential adopters complete the application process to be evaluated for appropriateness for the pet. If approved, adopters have a thirty-day probationary period during which time they may return the pet for a full refund or exchange for a different pet. For the life of the animal, it may be returned to the Cinderella shelter for a refund of half the adoption fee. It is the goal of Cinderella Pet Rescue to ensure that all animals are placed in qualified, loving homes and are always wanted, and properly cared for, by their owners. It is the Cinderella mission to make hairy-tail fairytales come true.
Foster Program
Cinderella Pet Rescue solicits homes where pets can be placed on a temporary basis until a permanent adoption is made. Potential pet foster parents are trained and supported to ensure all animals in care are maintained in a healthy, nurturing, positive environment. Homes are inspected on a regular basis. Cinderella Pet Rescue pays for all medical and maintenance expenses for each pet. Foster parents make foster pets available for a minimum of two adoption events monthly until the pet is adopted.
Fairy Godparent Pet Care
Educational program provided to new pet parents and interested community members, as well as modified curriculum for youth. Provides basic pet care plus recognizing symptoms of illnesses and first aid. Importance of spay/neuter, vaccinations and the prevention of parasites and disease through proper care.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Cinderella Pet Rescue is rescuing animals that have been neglected, abused and abandoned. Insuring each animal is tested for diseases, then vaccinated, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped, the program reduces some of the homeless pets in the area. By promoting spay/neuter, educating the community about proper pet care and adopting pets into qualified homes, Cinderella Pet Rescue aims to reduce the homeless pet situation and insure better care for all animals.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
By providing educational materials and through speaking engagements, Cinderella Pet Rescue is trying to educate the community (from children to adults) about the importance of spay/neuter and proper pet care. By rescuing homeless animals, spaying/neutering them and getting them healthy and socialized, Cinderella Pet Rescue is actively seeking qualified adoptive homes through websites, social media and adoption events at pet stores, RV parks, and community centers. Each pet placed in a good, loving home, is an ambassador for pet adoption and encourages others to adopt rather than support breeding operations that are too often just puppy mills.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
With over ten acres and facilities for caring for many animals, Cinderella Pet Rescue has continued to grow since it was founded in 2008. From a capacity of 25 dogs to 80 it has grown to meet the needs of the area. Volunteers with many years of experience in animal care and administration have been able to build the program into the respected organization that it is today. Adding a bus in 2017 retrofitted with crates has allowed for more versatile adoption events and the possibility of transporting pets to other regions that are needing adoptable pets.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Cinderella Pet Rescue has spayed/neutered, and placed, nearly two- thousand pets into adoptive homes. Promoting spay/neuter, proper pet care and adoption instead of buying from stores or breeders is helping to reduce the homeless pet population and improving the quality of life for pets in this region.

Financial data
CINDERELLA PET RESCUE
Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
