What we aim to solve
RNF seeks to increase the dialog in media about religion and faith in American life. It is a topic mainstream news organizations rarely cover, leaving a gaping coverage hole that begs to be filled, particularly as we are plunged into a new and uncertain world.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Religion News Service
The Religion News Service (religionnews.com) tells the stories of people and faith communities that might otherwise go untold. Religion and beliefs impact every aspect of the world around us but are rarely covered in media. We bring knowledge and depth to the conversation through in-depth articles, a wire service and other media, including opinion articles and podcasts.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Religion News Foundation (RNF) seeks to support religion journalism and religion journalists in order to improve the public conversation about religion and faith's role in American life. We aim to accomplish this through:
• Providing our bedrock, independent, non-secular journalism at religionnews.com;
• Continuing to report on every major faith tradition;
• Distributing RNS journalism on additional media platforms as appropriate;
• Collaborating with community partners on journalism (including the AP and The Conversation), event partnerships and other special initiatives; and
• Providing educational resources and training to religion journalists, as well as resources including the Religion Stylebook and the ReligionLink source guide database.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Religion News Foundation works to achieve its goals through the creation of events, resources, and workshops for journalists at large and the development and support of religion journalism at Religion News Service (RNS).
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?

Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jul 01 - Jun 30
SOURCE: IRS Form 990
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
