Cornerstone Church Berlin

The Eckstein Church (Cornerstone) in Berlin-Friedrichshain is located at the heart of former East Berlin. The first congregational meeting was held on September 18, 2016. The 50+ members all share the vision to take the gospel of Christ to the heart of Berlin. Most members are from a German or Russian-German background but a few people from the US, South Africa, Ukraine, Austria, Philippines, Albania, India, and Italy have also joined the church.

The church is closely related to the European Bible Training Center (EBTC) as they share the same office space and most of the pastors also teach at the EBTC. The church benefits from the network of the EBTC in that they can maintain and deepen their relationships with other churches throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Population(s) Served

The newly planted Lighthouse Church is located in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf area of East Berlin. The three-family team is rejoicing in the unity and joy...they have experienced so far. Trusting in God's help and promises, they begin this new work in former East Berlin with the hope that it will become a lighthouse of hope to the glory of God.

Almost half of the people in the districts of Marzahn-Hellersdorf and Treptow-Kopenick have moved into Berlin. It is predicted that Berlin's population will grow 10% in the next 15 years. Berlin needs more local churches that hold fast to the truth of the gospel, practice expository preaching, and help believers to grow to maturity. The Lighthouse team writes:

“We want to reach people with the Gospel who are not being reached at this time. We want to see those with diverse backgrounds, ages, cultures, and languages worship God together in one service and in one language.”

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

President & Founder

Stephen Lonetti

After retiring from the mission field of Indonesia, Steve and his family moved to California (1996) to study at The Master’s Seminary (M.Div., 2001) and serve at Grace Community Church. He later joined the pastoral team overseeing local evangelism and international ministries, served as an elder at Grace, and as an adjunct professor at TMS. He assumed the responsibilities as the Executive Director for White Fields (2002-2007), a mission organization that facilitates the church-planting efforts of over a hundred national pastors throughout the world. Currently, Steve is the President and Founder of LifeGate Worldwide, an organization dedicated to evangelism and church-planting. LifeGate is also the vehicle for The Chronicles of Redemption, an evangelistic course tracing the redemptive elements contained in both Old Testament narratives and the Gospels. The materials have been translated into over ten languages. He is also the lead pastor of Beacon of Hope Church in Saint Paul, MN.
