What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Senior animals - specifically cats and dogs over the age of 7 are extremely vulnerable because they are often more overlooked than younger animals in the shelter. In addition, senior animals are more likely to have health issues and are surrendered because their owner either does not want to deal with the health issue or they cannot afford to treat the animal's health condition. We aim to help educate people about senior pets and to encourage senior pet adoptions and rehoming in an effort to keep senior pets out of shelters.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Elderly Pet Organizations goal is to provide access to vital resources, including pet care packages, for at-risk senior pets and to keep senior pets out of shelters by raising awareness about senior pet vulnerabilities.

Our strategies to promote awareness about the organization, and the vulnerabilities of senior pets, include:
Actively maintaining and updating our website with research and informative articles about senior pets
Regularly communicating to our constituents via email about statistics and other information about senior pets
Encouraging rehoming and adoptions of senior pets
Producing PSA's to air on television and radio to promote rehoming and adoption of senior pets
Regularly producing articles about senior pets, especially health issues, and vulnerabilities they face
Providing care packages for newly adopted at-risk senior pets
Procuring pet supplies from corporate sponsors for the care packages
Actively promoting our various programs in Google search results by utilizing the Google Ad grant

Our organization's leader has a master's degree in business and over 25 years of marketing expertise to steer the organizational goals and implement program strategies. Our board consists of individuals who have all owned and operated businesses and bring expertise and guidance for growing the organization.

Through our active marketing and outreach efforts, as well as creatively developing various programs for the organization, we have made progress in the following areas: We consistently reach upwards of 2,000 new website visitors each month, we have increased our email signups by 160% year over year, we have increased donors by 200% year over year and we have provided access to resources and care packages to upwards of 12,000 at-risk senior pets over the past year.
