Organization of volunteeers

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In July of 2016 a small group of volunteers, from the Keller Senior Activities Center (KSAC) in Keller, Texas, met to discuss how they could help the Senior Center accomplish its goals. They discussed the possibility and purpose of establishing a non-profit organization:
• to support the needs the center and the needs of the members who attend,
• to insure that the City of Keller $80,000 feasibility study of the KSAC would include the concerns of its members,
• to explore the offerings of other Senior Centers in the area,
• to identify processes necessary for promoting numerous activities, donations and support that the members provide to the community and businesses in the Keller area,
and
• to determine how to acquire resources, both monetary and in-kind contributions to support a non-profit organization.
Those in attendance identified their individual skills and knowledge regarding the above and agreed to continue and take the action steps to assist in this endeavor. Since that time meetings were held and more volunteers committed their time and expertise resulting in the application and final approval for the Keller Community Senior Fund to be incorporated as of December 5, 2016.
A Board of Directors was identified, Bylaws were developed and approved, committees were established, outreach to the community, businesses and media organizations was initiated, fundraising activities were implemented, legal documents completed, banking was established,

Promotional material was developed and presentations were conducted.
During the few months up to incorporation the group had an opportunity to conduct a Power Point presentation to the Keller Parks and Recreation Board, which has the responsibility for the KSAC. The Power Point presentation is included in the addendum of this report. The presentation covered the uniqueness and positive impact the KSAC has on seniors in the community, present activities, statistics about seniors, both general and Keller related, testimonials, our wishes, next steps (creating a non-profit), our Mission, Vision and Purpose. The Power Presentation was applauded by the Committee members.
IMPACT
As a result of that presentation we were asked to submit the same to the Keller City Council, which was accomplished on February 7, 2017. Subsequently the City Council approved to proceed with the feasibility study. The concept of a new Senior Center has been approved and is now in the architectural stage.
The Board was included in a visit to another Senior Center, to see the structure, layout, activities and the impact of their own non-profit group. Members of the Board were invited to attend and contribute to discussions in meetings of the Keller Parks and Recreation Committee. Impact on the seniors, themselves, was demonstrated by the fact that, in the Power Presentation, to the Keller City Council, they were able to submit testimonials of how they perc
