What we aim to solve
By educating people, especially our children who are our next generation, makes the realty so true. The spaying and neutering the animals prevent homelessness .
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Early Spay/Neuter Program
All of SCAR's animals are spayed and neutered before they are adopted to a loving family. All kittens and puppies are sp/n at 8 weeks old. Are goal is to reduce the homeless animals.
Behavior/Medical Rehabilitation
May animals have the need for medical treatment before they can be adopted. SCAR will take the responsibility of providing the medical needs to every animal that enters into our shelter. Because we rescue from high kill shelters, animals have had abuse and neglect. SCAR provides the animals with a sense of security so the animals can learn to trust humans again.
Pet Adoptions
To rehome an animal and have them trust and experience the love that they deserve.
Foster Care
SCAR's believes that the environment for the animals should be of a family unit. A home environment can produce the day to day care of our animals which brings the security for the animals
Education/Mentor Program
SCAR has encouraged the children to participate in being kind and showing love to the animals that are in need.

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
SCAR has made these our continued goals. We never adopt an animal before spay and neutering. Our mission is to prevent homeless animals. We have found that spaying and neutering is the solution.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We continue to help other shelters that aren't as fortunate as us. The amount of animals that are being euthanized for just being born. So we continue to help and spaying and neutering and find loving homes

Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

President
Kym Cyr
Has been an animal advocate for over 28 years. Kym Cyr was honored Sunday, Dec. 4, by the Women Empowered (WE) organization, at the fourth annual Women of the Year Champagne Brunch. Honoree Kym Cyr, originally from Connecticut, has been an Island resident for 20 years. “We always had animals when I was growing up,” said Ms. Cyr, “I didn’t think about it.” One day when she was about 8 years old, she brought home a neglected beagle, her mother remembered. That dog became part of the family; it wasn’t until Cyr was an adult living in South Carolina that she realized how many dogs and cats are in similar straits. “Animal shelters in many Southern states have a never-ending influx of healthy, adoptable pets that are needlessly euthanized,” said Ms. Cyr. “On one Island visit [to see her mother, who was involved in trapping and neutering feral cats], Kym brought 17 kittens,” “Her passion was clear, but she needed an organization behind her.” Ms. Cyr Founded Second Chance Animal Rescue
