Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Spay/neuter / Vaccinate
• Reduce the number of homeless animals being euthanized in shelters everyday
• Altering will increase life span by 1 - 3 years for dogs and 3 - 5 for cats
• Lessens certain types of aggressive behaviors and the desire to roam
• Reduces the risk of spraying to mark territory
• Vaccination helps animals live longer and healthier lives
Finding Forever Homes
• Provide veterinary care upon arrival to MVHHA
• Socialize the animals to prepare them for their new home
• Provide surrendered and homeless dogs and cats a safe, caring and secure transitional environment
• Search for families willing to make the potential 20 + year commitment
• Give a second chance to animals to be adopted into loving and forever homes
EDUCATE
• and commitment in caring for animals
• Showing a sense of respect and instilling positive attitudes towards animals
• To create awareness for the need to reduce the number of homeless animals
• Advocate the need to adopt from a shelter vs. supporting pet shops and puppy mills
• Being a “voice” for all animal
Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR)
Caretakers
• A non-lethal way to humanely & effectively reduce the feral cat population
• Trap cats in a humane way using a Have a Heart trap
• Neuter/spay to prevent reproduction

SCAR has made these our continued goals. We never adopt an animal before spay and neutering. Our mission is to prevent homeless animals. We have found that spaying and neutering is the solution.

We continue to help other shelters that aren't as fortunate as us. The amount of animals that are being euthanized for just being born. So we continue to help and spaying and neutering and find loving homes

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

President

Kym Cyr

Has been an animal advocate for over 28 years. Kym Cyr was honored Sunday, Dec. 4, by the Women Empowered (WE) organization, at the fourth annual Women of the Year Champagne Brunch. Honoree Kym Cyr, originally from Connecticut, has been an Island resident for 20 years. “We always had animals when I was growing up,” said Ms. Cyr, “I didn’t think about it.” One day when she was about 8 years old, she brought home a neglected beagle, her mother remembered. That dog became part of the family; it wasn’t until Cyr was an adult living in South Carolina that she realized how many dogs and cats are in similar straits. “Animal shelters in many Southern states have a never-ending influx of healthy, adoptable pets that are needlessly euthanized,” said Ms. Cyr. “On one Island visit [to see her mother, who was involved in trapping and neutering feral cats], Kym brought 17 kittens,” “Her passion was clear, but she needed an organization behind her.” Ms. Cyr Founded Second Chance Animal Rescue
