Mission

Beat Childhood Cancer drives solid-tumor childhood cancer research and raises awareness, making a difference in kids’ survival today. Our vision is to change the story for the next family by finding viable treatments and ultimately, a cure for childhood cancer. We are helping kids now with targeted therapies and oral drugs with low side effects aimed at preventing or treating relapse without punitive, long-term side effects. Our community of clinicians, scientists, parents, and supporters has built an international infrastructure and team of research and clinical collaborators to ensure kids have access to these therapies. The Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium is made up of over 50 children's hospitals and research institutions in North America.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Funding research and clinical trials for children with solid tumor cancers creating options for kids today to increase survival and decrease toxicity.

We are committed to knowing the solid tumor research landscape and specifically funding patient-affecting trials and research. We partner specifically with researchers, physicians, and scientists who fit our goal of making a difference in survival today. We work specifically with doctors and teams who are directly dealing with patient-affecting treatment options for solid-mass childhood cancer.

Throughout the year, Beat Childhood Cancer hosts several fundraising events for childhood cancer research. We have recently brought four childhood cancer nonprofits together into a single entity, creating a national group of families focused on beating childhood cancer for every child, everywhere allowing them to survive and thrive.

We've built a team of research and clinical collaborators to ensure kids across the US and internationally to have access to these therapies, and created a consortium of over 50+ children's hospitals to do so, through the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium.

Since 2010 we have been able to direct over $8 million to doctors and researchers conducting patient-affecting research and clinical trials for neuroblastoma and other childhood cancers. Each year our fundraising and research goals continue to grow and we won't stop funding research until there is a cure for childhood cancer.

We are continuing to add more locations for our clinical trials to be operated in, and look for better treatment options. Ridding kids of cancer is only one part of saving them. We must also maintain fertility, cognitive capacity and organ function for another 7 decades of life. Every child deserves to survive and thrive.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

Executive Director

Sarah Bartosz

Sarah serves as Executive Director of Beat Childhood Cancer. Her son Jack was 4 years old when he was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2005, and battled cancer nearly 7 years, before finding his ultimate cure in Heaven in 2012. She started I Back Jack in 2006, later changing the name to Gold in September (G9) and continued to #growGold for kids over the years. In July of 2020, G9 became a part of Beat Childhood Cancer, and we are proud to continue this work together.

Founder

Patrick Lacey

Patrick's son Will started fighting neuroblastoma cancer at just 7 months old. Pat founded a nonprofit called Friends of Will to help discover, fund, and drive forward options to help Will beat cancer - and he did. Friends of Will became Beat Nb, and in July of 2020 became known as Beat Childhood Cancer. Today, Will is a college student playing hockey in Braintree, MA with his two younger sisters.
