New Mexico PTA Reflections Program

The New Mexico PTA Reflections Program allows children to express themselves artistically. Students submit artwork to their local PTA’s based on a common theme. Works are judged at the local level and the winning entries advance to the state PTA level. Top state award–winning entries advance to the national level of judging.

Family Legislative Day gives parents, teachers, students, school youth leaders, community members, and administrators an opportunity to learn the basics of Legislative Advocacy and also gives them the opportunity to meet with their Representatives to discuss legislation specific to their school or community. It also teaches attendees how an “idea” can become a bill and the process it takes to become a law. Tours of the State Capitol Building (aka "the Roundhouse) are given and attendees get to see their state government leaders in action!

Population(s) Served
Families

Based on the National Standards for Family-School Partnerships this awards program encourages all New Mexico PTA schools to submit entries in one or more categories describing how the PTA at their school successfully Welcomed All Families, Communicated Effectively, Supported Student Success, Spoke Up for Every Child, Shared Power, and Collaborated With Community.

The New Mexico State PTA Convention gives attendees the opportunity to learn how local PTA units can run more efficiently; Learn the answers to the many questions that come up every year in their local PTA units; gives Board members an opportunity to learn "what you “don’t” know" through President, Treasurer, Membership, & Secretary training; and become familiar with IRS forms, rules and regulations.
It also gives members insight into the varied Programs offered by New Mexico/National PTA - such as Reflections, Membership and Internet Safety programs.
A workshop is given on why a PTA needs insurance and what is the right coverage for your PTA.
An Exhibitors Showcase is also held so that members can see/meet vendors to find out what programs, activities, resources and fundraisers are available.
The attendees are also given time to talk with other PTAs, National PTA Representatives and State Board Members.
It is a great place to learn from and network with other schools.
Advocating - Attendees will discover why PTA was started in 1897 in Washington DC and in 1915 in New Mexico. They learn and why we continue to be largest Parent Teacher Association in the country advocating for every child with one voice!

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jul 01 - Jun 30

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
