Mission

The mission of the Twelfth Step Ministry, Inc. at the Center for Spiritual Development (CSD) is to provide a safe, inclusive community which delivers hope, helping, support, education and training to the recovery, and professional communities in North Texas.

Notes from the nonprofit

Since the beginning, individuals seeking recovery have met in a house originally built in the 1930’s which has been modestly converted through the years for its present use. Construction of a new energy efficient, ADA compliant, 8800 square-foot facility has been approved by the Board of Directors. The new facility would increase the number of meeting spaces per week and allow 4 outdoor spaces and a creekside meditation path. Without a doubt, the ministry provides invaluable recovery support for individuals working to stabilize their lives. In this tested safe environment, surrounded by peers in recovery who offer hope and support, recovery for struggling individuals begins and endures. To replace the facility, a $11M “Building a House of Hope” Capital Campaign has begun for construction. A 50-year lease on the property has been secured with a $2,500,000 donation, and a $500,000 Building Maintenance Matching Endowment donation has been received.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
