Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
To promote accessible and quality education worldwide by connecting our passionate youth-teachers with in need domestic and international students through our online platform and various academic and extracurricular programs.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Students know students best! UST volunteer teachers are grade 6-12 students, have excellent academic records, and have demonstrated great character. They share a strong interest in teaching and carefully customize their classes based on their students’ needs. All our teachers go through an application process that involves an interview and comprehensive training before they start teaching. Additionally, all new teachers regularly receive supervision from senior teachers to ensure the students are receiving the best experience possible. We devote ourselves to providing our teachers with a supportive and positive working environment, enabling them to develop leadership, and interpersonal skills, and accelerate personal growth.
All UST classes are virtual and free or low-cost.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
First of all, middle and high school students are looking for exciting volunteer opportunities that can enable them to contribute and learn simultaneously. UST offers these students teaching and leadership opportunities.
Teaching is an advantageous way to volunteer by helping other students improve their grades and become better people. In the meantime, it is also a fun and effective way to improve the teachers' interpersonal skills and enhance their own learning.
Moreover, UST is led by a student leadership team under the supervision and guidance of the adult advisory board, which is dedicated to preparing future leaders and entrepreneurs by providing our youth leaders with various leadership positions and opportunities within our organization.
Our adult advisory board comprises people from the fields of education, human resources, business, etc., who believe in our mission and are willing to contribute their time, resources, and expertise to our youth volunteers.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Since the formation of UST in 6/2020, more than 40 excellent youth teachers have joined us. They deliver free English, Chinese, Science, Math, Writing, Coding, Music, and Public Speaking/Debate online classes to students in China, Canada, Japan, Australia, Africa, and the United States. To date, we have offered more than 1000 classes and served more than hundreds of students.
Our youth leadership team, composed of 8 officers, covers the areas of Human Resources, Business Development, and Finance. They have improved their leadership, communication, and entrepreneurial skills through their work at UST.
Our future goal is to continue enrolling qualified teachers and serve more students. We are also looking into opportunities to expand our program and services by offering educational presentations and cooperating with other facilities.
