What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

In response to the loneliness epidemic facing the United States, the Surgeon General issued a health advisory in May 2023, citing loneliness as a serious mental and physical health hazard, emphasizing that social connection is as essential to our long-term survival as food and water. According to the AARP Foundation, more than 1 in 3 older Americans are lonely. It is now well documented that loneliness among older adults is associated with higher rates of depression, a 50% increased risk of dementia, and a 30% increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The additional Medicare costs resulting from loneliness and social isolation among older adults is estimated at $6.7 billion annually.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Life Story Clubs for Older Adults

Our Life Story Clubs for older adults are held at senior centers, retirement communities and through partnerships with other community organizations. In our clubs, a facilitator guides a group of older adults in sharing and preserving their life stories. In addition to hearing and sharing stories with other community members, participants are also able to audio record and create their own personal memory books.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
