Indivisible Aurora, Illinois Alliance for Reentry & Justice, and Black Alliance for Peace are working together to launch a participatory democracy hub in Aurora, IL. Currently, local legislation is driven by politically connected organizations and people. Entire communities are excluded from any input in the legislative process, which constitutes the feedback, ideation, and creation of laws. This project attempts to change this by establishing a participatory democracy hub in Aurora, IL that will empower the community to play an active role in local democracy.

Community fridges, aka Solidarity, Hope, or Honesty fridges, are a practice of mutual aid whereby the community is responsible for caring for one another and by practice improving accessibility to needed resources. And in the case of community fridges, the resource is food. We partner with the Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry to provide bi-weekly food drop-offs to the fridge. We rely on the community and volunteers to supplement additional foods as well as to clean and maintain the fridge. www.indivisibleaurora.org/fridgeproject
