Mission

Our goal is to create awareness, fund scientific research, and enrich the lives of those families who are struggling with the burden of Duchenne.

Notes from the nonprofit

We are very proud of the work that Walking Strong provides to the Duchenne Community. We are a volunteer-based organization committed to raising awareness, serving those with Duchenne and their families as well as supporting scientific research. We host annual fundraisers to raise money and always seek more volunteers and support. The founders are parents of those with a teen boy with Duchenne and are deeply embedded in the Duchenne Community and have excellent relationships with the Center For Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at UCLA and Nationwide Children's Hospital. Valerie Pappas LLauro, the Co-Founder, is on the Community Advisory Board through the PPMD which provides FDA Guidance. We work with both the PPMD as well as Team Joseph in Michigan to collaborate on Assistance for families when needed. Our mission is to ease the burden of those with Duchenne and their families, create priceless experiences for those with Duchenne and support scientific research.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
