What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Donations Before Dumpsters
Forget the dumpster. Recycle your items instead! Check out the ways you can recycle or reuse instead of throwing these items in the trash.
Helping the Helpers
GNG establishes relationships with care providers and nonprofit programs to support them in their work. We also aim to fill the spaces between other organizations which means understanding the parameters groups rely on. We put the opportunities we find out to the community so they can step up to help one another. We know that when people are offered a finite, tangible way to get involved they respond enthusiastically - being good neighbors. Through this we strengthen the communities where we live.
Earth Day Festival
2023 will mark the event's 21st year. This event brings together the community, students, nonprofits and small businesses around issues related to the physical environment, as well as people's well-being. Our own health and the health of the planet are intertwined. The event brings around 1000 people together on this day filled with educational opportunities, food and festivities with the goal of encouraging people to take what they learn and apply it all year long.
S(o)uper Bowl Food Drive
Each year, GNG engages neighborhoods around Greater Severna Park and the Broadneck Peninsula in a light competition to replenish several local food pantries. We've had as many as 58 neighborhoods participate and to date have contributed more than 50,000 items of food. We target the most needed items identified by each pantry.
GNG Rogue Gardeners/Ecotober
The Rogue Gardeners find opportunities to plant native plants, shrubs and trees around the areas where we live. We maintain four local gardens currently. In addition, we educate the community about the plantings and their benefits to the environment. Ecotober is an opportunity to clean up local spaces, participate in plantings and reinforce environmental messages that have arisen during the course of the year, Earth Day Festival and Rogue Gardening events.
