What we aim to solve
We're here for nurses. To deepen and expand Watsons Caring Science, the philosophies, theories, ethics and practices of Human Caring, originated by Founder/Director Jean Watson. Goals & Objectives Transform the dominant model of medical science to a model of Watsons Caring Science by reintroducing the ethic, philosophy and diverse practices of caring and Love (Caritas), necessary for healing. Deepen the authentic Caring-Healing relationships between caregiver and patient/family, to restore Love and compassion as the ethical, values foundation of healthcare. Translate the model of Caring-Healing/Caritas into fully integrated transdisciplinary programs and services to help transform healthcare one nurse / one caregiver / one educator / one l

Caritas Coach Education Program® (CCEP)
A 6-month personal and professional development program, offering a dynamic, collaborative, and compassionate deep dive into self-reflection on how ones’ personal gifts and talents inform their caring practice. Caritas Coaches® are champions of Watson's Caring Science and are instrumental in influencing system change.
Caritas Leadership Program™
A 6-month, transformational model designed to engage in deep study and personal mastery of leadership guided by Watson's Caring Science, the 10 Caritas Processes® and Caritas Literacy. Receive Caritas Leader® distinction upon completion.
WCSI Affiliate Program
The WCSI Affiliate Program is a structured alliance between WCSI and the leaders of hospital systems and universities who demonstrate the desire for meaningful organizational and cultural transformation by integrating the values, philosophies and tenants of Watson Caring Science.
There are two levels of designation: Affiliate, and Distinguished Affiliate. Distinguished Affiliates are more advanced organizations demonstrating required and additional exemplary indicators. Both levels showcase and celebrate a commitment to Watson’s Caring Science, to broaden a caring healing environment for staff, patients and families, organizational culture and communities.
WCSI offers ongoing support and resources, including customized training programs and consulting, with priority access to Dr. Watson, WCSI Faculty, experts and scholars.
WCSI Regional Caritas Consortia™
WCSI Regional Caritas Consortia (WCSI-RCC) are region-based gatherings and conferences of interdisciplinary groups of nurses, health professionals - and other mission-led organizations - to explore and share the philosophy, theory, values and practices of Watson’s Caring Science, also known as Unitary Caring Science.
WCSI-RCC's are committed for the betterment of sustaining human caring and healing within their regional communities that radiate out to the world by generating new forms of scholarship, education, leadership and clinical practice knowledge.

Dr Jean Watson
Dr. Jean Watson is Distinguished Professor and Dean Emerita, University of Colorado Denver, College of Nursing Anschutz Medical Center (retired), where she held the nation’s first endowed Chair in Caring Science for 16 years. She is Founder and Director of the non-profit foundation, Watson Caring Science Institute (www.watsoncaringscience.org). In 2013 Dr. Watson was inducted as a Living Legend by the American Academy of Nursing, its highest honor. She is a widely published author and recipient of many national/international awards and honors. Dr. Watson’s Ethic-Philosophy and Transpersonal Theory of Human Caring, and Caritas Processes of Unitary Caring Science are used to guide transformative models of education, research and leadership; her work is the foundation for advancing professional caring- healing practices for hospitals, nurses and patients alike, in diverse settings worldwide.

Julie Watson
Julie is an experienced leader, founder and start up director in the education, arts & cultural sectors, with a strong background in non – profits, and social justice. A natural collaborator, she is entrepreneurially minded and socially engaged, with an in-depth understanding of initiating and growing new projects and organizations, particularly those who serve marginalized communities. She is skilled in innovation, event management, and volunteer training with a focus on creating and delivering projects and strategies to build greater creative and social capital – skills which will help to ensure Human Caring Science Theory and Philosophy lives on in perpetuity.
As Managing Editor of the newly established WCSI imprint Lotus Library – she works with Jean, Nurse authors, and other care givers – publishing books which showcase a humanitarian, human science orientation to human caring processes and phenomena. Giving voice to the often hidden contributions nurses contribute to our world.
