What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Job Rides’ mission is “Helping people get to work.” We seek to solve the problem of people who want to work but have barriers to transportation. While everyone deserves the opportunity to work and provide for their own needs, we understand that getting a job is only half the problem. For many low-income workers, the real barrier is getting to work, day after day, week after week. Access to reliable transportation makes all the difference for people to keep working and improve their quality of life.

Transportation Services for Workers

Job Rides is an Iowa-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide people with equal access to employment through transportation. Job Rides partners with businesses, organizations, and individuals to donate to affordable, reliable rides for those who need it most.
Job Rides transports employees of area manufacturers from specific locations to the workplace. Van drivers are employed to drive early, midday, or late shifts, seven days per week, to pick up riders. A weekly fee for each rider can be paid in full by the employer or employee, or shared between them. Donations fund the cost of the service not covered by fees, to keep the program affordable and accessible for low-income workers.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
