What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

We hope to address a great many social issues that all stem from a lack of comprehensive and evidence-based education in sexuality and gender. A positive sexuality approach to sexual violence, gender discrimination, and other social issues can help resolve these problems.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

In the short term we hope to raise awareness and understanding of sexual identities that are often marginalized. In the long term we hope to provide an understanding of what it means to be sex positive with the hope that this will help to alleviate prejudice and harm for all people. With this we feel that we can eliminate social problems related to or associated with sexuality and beyond. We accomplish this through providing educational panels to college students and professionals about and by sexual minorities, as well as through our professional development training. We publish an online free access peer-reviewed academic journal, accessed across the world. This is a credible source of information for researchers, students, and policy makers on subjects related to sexual minorities and social problems. We will also debut our Sex Positive Professional Certification program, to all professionals of all types to display their awareness of the need for sex positivity within a variety of fields, vocations, and work environments in order to combat prejudice and social problems associated with sexuality.

Our Journal of Positive Sexuality will move into its fourth year of publication in 2018, with an international, renowned Editorial Board. Our volunteer Educators reach over 1000 people every year through presentations and community outreach events. Our Sex Positive Professional Certification program will be ready to launch in the near future. We have an active internship program, that helps college students and professionals gain useful experience working for a nonprofit, as well as continuing our research and education programs. We are presenting our first conference in 2018 (#SexPosCon18), open to professionals, students, and community members. We have begun coalition building with similar organizations in the United States and look forward to making more alliances along the way.

Our existing Board Members, and many of our volunteer educators, are well established within sex education, counseling, and therapy arenas. We draw upon the expertise and skills of each of volunteers, as well as their connections to other professionals, to help us achieve our goals. Many of our volunteers and board members present at and attend professional conferences around the world, contributing to the larger body of knowledge as well as bringing back new insights and methods that help the Center move forward.

Our Journal of Positive Sexuality starts it's 4th year in 2018.

The Sex Positive Certification program should be ready before the end 2017.

We have several research projects under way and have increased our number of research affiliates. We have also expanded our education program to Chicago and will be providing presentations there this fall.

We have an internship program that hosts 10-12 interns per year, in our research, education, and administrative intern programs. We will host our first Positive Sexuality Conference in May 2018, and continue with all of the work we are already doing.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jul 01 - Jun 30

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
