To help reduce the number of abandoned, unclaimed, surrendered and shelter dogs and puppies going in our area. To help stop animal overpopulation and the suffering that accompanies it by promoting spay/neuter of all pets.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Dog Vet Services, Boarding/Foster Care, Supplies & Training
All dogs and puppies entering into the WAG Rescue system are provided with a thorough vet exam, they receive vaccinations and they are tested for heart worms. Our dogs either go into a foster home or they are boarded at our refuge in Driftwood. We provide all the food and supplies, as well as training by certified dog trainers and rehabilitation specialists.
Heartworm Testing, Treatment & Prevention
Incoming dogs that are unclaimed are tested for heartworms. If they test positively, we treat the dog and let them recover fully before they are put up for adoption
Emergency Care & Specialty Surgeries for Unclaimed Dogs & Puppies
The emergency and specialty surgery program is for the purpose of providing medical care for unclaimed dogs and puppies in need. Specialty surgeries are provided for dogs with treatable conditions, but need the surgery in order to be more adoptable and pain free.
Animal Education & Community Outreach
WAG Rescue Community Outreach Team goes to local schools and organizations to educate the public about animal care, treating all creatures with respect, the benefits of spay/neutering your pet and other pertinent topics.
Community Dog Spay/Neuter Vouchers through Emancipet
WAG Rescue provides dog spay/neuter vouchers through Emancipet to people in the community who need financial assistance getting this procedure for their pet.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
To rescue, care for and adopt out as many unclaimed, abandoned ,surrendered and shelter dogs and puppies in our area as possible.
To offer dog spay/neuter vouchers through Emancipet for people in the community who need financial assistance or those who might not otherwise be inclined to have their pet altered.
To build a permanent facility to temporarily house our dogs while keeping the foster component in place.
To educate the public about the humane treatment and care of all animals and to encourage the spay/neuter of all pets.
To act as a lost and found service for all animals in our area via the WAG Rescue Facebook, Instagram, etc.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We continue to take in unclaimed dogs and puppies, regardless of their age or condition, and provide them with the medical care, socialization and training that they need in order be adoptable. We also pull dogs and puppies from area shelters that are at risk of euthanasia. We provide dog spay/neuter vouchers through Emancipet to people in the community who need assistance getting this procedure for their pet. We act as a resource for lost and found animals
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We are capable of caring for between 40 and 45 dogs and puppies at any one time.
This includes heart worm positive dogs that will be in our system for several months undergoing treatment and recovery and dogs requiring specialty surgeries.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Since our inception in June 2009, we have rescued, cared for and adopted out nearly 1,900 dogs and puppies. Additionally, we have treated over 90 dogs for heartworms and provided emergency care and specialty surgeries for unclaimed dogs and puppies.
We have helped return countless animals to their owners via our website and social media.
It is our goal to build a modest, permanent facility on our 6 acre site in Driftwood where we can house dogs that are not in foster care and have a quarantine area that can be readily sanitized. We need indoor facilities particularly during inclement weather. Currently, we have 16, 10' x 10' covered outdoor kennels on the property built by our volunteers. Extreme heat, cold and thunderstorms are difficult conditions to operate under, not only for the dogs, but also for our volunteers.
We currently need a whole house back-up generator.

Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
SOURCE: IRS Form 990
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
