Alexander County-NC Med Assist Pharmacy Program

The Bridge Community has planned this event for September 19, 2020, in Alexander County, a rural area of North Carolina.
NC Med Assist is a non-profit pharmacy program that provides access to free lifesaving prescription medications for chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and asthma. This program also provides patient support, advocacy and related services to financially challenged, vulnerable, and uninsured North Carolina residents.
The NC Med Assist Mobile Free Pharmacy is a part of their over-the-counter medicine program. This program will provide our low-income neighbors, which struggle to maintain an at-home medicine cabinet, with free medication for fevers, colds, vitamins, and much more such as bandaids, gauze.
With this program, on the day of this event, low-income residents are also able to register for their regular medication delivered to their homes, and it is all free as well.

The Bridge Community, Inc. is a vital and innovative 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with the mission to improve lives across the diverse communities we serve in Alexander County. Alexander County has a higher poverty line percentage rate of 17.4% in the population living below the national average of 14%. With the U.S. and world economies in crisis, more unemployed workers, working poor families, and seniors on limited incomes than ever before are living at the margins of poverty and need help in securing adequate resources for their families. As a newly established organization, we have several programs and services through which we will achieve our mission. We believe that with the support of individuals, businesses, and the surrounding communities, we can make an impactful and positive change in our community. Our desire is to bridge the gap between the needs of families and the resources available in Alexander and surrounding counties in North Carolina, by prioritizing the need
