Havasu Helping Girls works to empower and inspire girls and women. - Free menstrual supplies to those lacking access: with our free monthly period supplies program, our tween/teen period starter kit program, and with donations of period products to local schools. - Fighting to end stigmas surrounding menstruation: with educating the public about pertinent issues relating to menstruation and period poverty, as well as, socio-economic issues as they relate to girls and young women. - Research: We conduct research studies on women’s health topics and use the data to help influence and advocate for improvements in healthcare, education, and other fields. - Help young women learn and develop leadership skills: by offering our #GirlsLead courses for girls and young women ages 10-18.

No-Cost Period Supplies

The company makes free period supplies (tampons, pads, etc) available to those in need through partnerships with local schools, shelters, women's programs, and via direct distribution to girls and women at it’s main office.

Our outreach and education initiative aims to provide pertinent information to the general public relating to the issues that girls and women in our area face, including period poverty, correct use of feminine hygiene products, educational obstacles, and career growth.

The annual girls leadership course program offers a specialized and focused curriculum to help develop and improve leadership skills. Two courses are available based on age: middle school (ages 10-13) and high school (ages 14-18).

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

- Eliminate period poverty in our local communities and increase distribution of free period supplies to those in need through strategic partnerships with local school districts and other nonprofits.

- Deliver a variety of activities, events, and courses including our first annual Leadership Seminars in Fall 2022 with the goal of empowering and inspiring young women to become better leaders and community members.

- Offer a new course on sexual and menstrual health for girls and young women, focusing on strengthening knowledge taught in the classroom/at home.

- Increasing awareness of period poverty issues in the community and the services available to help, thereby increasing the total number of period supplies our organization distributes to those in need of them.

- Planning, organizing, and delivering courses and events, beginning in Q2 of 2022, with the first annual leadership seminars held in Fall of 2022.

- Partnering with local medical professionals to develop and deliver a comprehensive course on sexual and menstrual health topics once a semester that is open to all girls and young women in the community.

Our organization is capable of meeting these goals by leveraging the strengths and skills of our board members and volunteers, as well as by utilizing specialized knowledge from community partners. We have increased outreach activities on popular social media platforms to raise awareness of programs and services to target populations.

- Q1 2022 has seen an increase in the overall amount of distributed period products and period starter kits to those in need compared to Q1 2021.

- Current planned activities and events in 2022 have been scheduled and are being advertised to the local community.

- Leadership skills curriculum development is underway for the Fall 2022 Leadership Seminars. Event registration for the seminars will be open and available in April/May 2022.

Tony Contratto currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors & Chief Executive Officer for Havasu Helping Girls, Inc. Tony also leads the organization’s committees on Curriculum Development, Event and Activity Planning, Program Development, and Scientific & Educational Research. He has previously volunteered with The Centurian Newspaper, Streams in the Desert Community Foundation, and Touching the Life of a Child (TLC). Tony's education includes studies in criminal law, business, anthropology, obstetrics and gynecology, international politics, and computer science.
