What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

"What are your plans after graduating?" "After carefully reviewing your application, we've chosen a candidate with more hands-on experience" "If only I'd known about X when I was your age" We've all heard the aforementioned at some point of our lives; yet we spend most of our waking hours liking and sharing IG posts, in banter with an opposing Twitter user or actively avoiding our futures with some sort of distraction. Operation: Adulting™ is here to assist high school seniors with responsibly navigating their independence while assisting college seniors with their transition into adulthood. There are millions of young people around the planet with a passion for careers in Science, Space, Technology, Arts & Media yet have no access to technology available in developed countries. The people left paying for the wreck that is the covid pandemic will be future generations of young people. We're here to give them a fighting chance

Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Professional Development

aka CareerDiv; our "JobZone" features drafting a CV and cover letter, Interviewing & Networking tips/info, Negotiating a hiring contract, following up after the interview
O21: Learning to network with our @HHH: At Home Happy Hour fundraising event

There may be careers these young adults have not considered or even heard of in the fields of: science, space, technology, engineering, arts, and media; pre-covid, O: A™ would team with companies and other organisations for corporate sponsored Shadow Days in order for students to experience a "Day in the Life" of their future career title.

Not only does this give our young adults a glimpse into the future they're striving for, it is a phenomenal opportunity for businesses to have a glimpse at how future generations view, approaching and tackle current, and perhaps future, issues.

Population(s) Served
Economically disadvantaged people
Adolescents

aka FINANCIAL LITERACY covers:
+ Money Management: Sustainable budgeting tips, saving for unforeseen circumstances, paying back student loans, stock/investing, unemployment benefits + EBT application process

Our high school aged students focus on: Applying for scholarships, financial aid & grants, the FAFSA process explained and most importantly: Not falling for the credit card scheme!

Our college aged young adults focus on: strategy for paying back student loans, investments such as 401K, IRA, CDs, precious metals / ETFs, Evergreen Investments: Real Estate/Property, landlords versus management companies, tenant & landlord rights, lottery apartment application

In order to achieve our dreams, students more often than not, need access to money and other resources. Without an understanding of where to find these and manage them, future generations will fall behind.

Population(s) Served
Students
Ethnic and racial groups

aka Inner Engineering which covers:
+ Digital identity management explains the importance of understanding their e-rights, digital privacy rules & regulations; what to do/who to report ‘x’ to
+ “Civil” identity management covers legal structures within society and the law enforcement community and also the advantages and disadvantages of RESPONDing versus REACTing
+ Inner Engineering discusses topics such as remaining present and grounded, being self aware of actions, Meditation.
+ Cultural Confidence exposes our young adults to worlds and cultures different from their own. What better way to learn different methods of communication than immersing oneself into a new world?

Ethics and values are similar in that you are basing your decisions off of your moral compass.
We will discuss real world scenarios young people face and find resources for your ethical dilemmas.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Through career diversification panels to our FinLit 101 course, Operation: Adulting is dedicated to ensuring a more level playing field for disproportionately marginalised and under-represented, STEAM focused innovators.

Through curated events & programmes encouraging career diversification & professional development, inner engineering and financial literacy

So far we've helped 17 students who otherwise would've given up on a career in STEM. O: A hopes to give our budding adults access to technologies only developed countries have access to.
