Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program is a major focus for the fundraising done each year by the Friends. 517 people participated in 2022, including children, teenagers and adults and they spent over 467,000 minutes reading. The program was run primarily through the Beanstack application. There also were over 2,000 people who attended various in-person programs and events through the summer. Successful programs included the art & crafts programs, zoo and animal features, and various theatre performers. Prizes, also sponsored by the Friends, were awarded to lucky Summer Reading winners.
Museum Passes
Museum Pass Program – Extending learning into the wider landscape
The Friends sponsor membership passes to several local museums, arboreta and a zoo which can be used by library patrons for FREE. With pandemic mitigations easing, the Friends are offering additional museum pass opportunities.
The Horsham Library currently offers the following Museum Passes, with the number of people able to use the pass determined by museum:
* Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University (2 adults and 5 children per pass)
* Elmwood Park Zoo
* Bucks County Children's Museum (6 people, any ages per pass)
* National Constitution Center (2 adults and 4 children per pass)
* John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove (2 adults and 4 children per pass)
* Mütter Museum (4 people, any ages per pass)
The Friends fund the cost of these museum passes. Each museum offers free admission, as well as other benefits. Passes are checked out for 3 days.
